Frequently Asked Questions

Which certificate types does Zerta support?

Zerta supports Electrical Installation Certificates (EIC), Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates (MEIWC), and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR).

There a loads of UK electrical certification tools available - how is Zerta different?

If you’re issuing BS 7671 certificates in the UK, you’ve probably already used one or more of the usual options.

Some people still use paper certificate pads from scheme providers like SELECT, NICEIC or NAPIT. They’re familiar and straightforward, but they can be slow to complete, easy to make small mistakes on, and awkward to store or resend later.

Others use editable PDFs or desktop software on a laptop. That can produce professional results, but it often means re-typing the same details, needing a computer rather than a phone on site, and dealing with paperwork in the evenings after a day’s work.

A lot of sparks now use apps or online platforms, usually on a subscription. These can be powerful and work brilliantly for larger firms, especially if you want job management, invoicing, scheduling, or multi-user access. If all you want is a clean, compliant certificate tool, they can sometimes feel heavier and more expensive than necessary. Some systems also use token or per-certificate pricing, which can be frustrating to work with.

Zerta exists because none of those quite matched how we were working. It’s built for solo electricians and small UK firms who want to record details on site, work without internet signal, avoid yet another on-going subscriptions or tokens, and produce professional PDFs without letting certificate writing build up into a pile of evening admin after you leave site.

We’re not trying to replace large all-in-one trade platforms where you can manage everything from clients to jobs to payments, output a huge volume of AI-assisted paperwork completions, or have multiple users collaborating to finalise a certificate. We’re offering a simpler alternative for when you just want to get certificates done simply so you can get on with the rest of the job.

Does Zerta work fully offline?

Yes. You can create and edit certificates, and produce client-ready PDFs, fully offline. You only need an internet connection when you are ready to send the finished PDF to your client via email or message.

No personal or company data is stored on external servers. Everything is stored locally on your device, and Pro users can back up and restore their data as they like.

Do I need a subscription, tokens, or monthly fees?

No. Zerta uses a one-off paid upgrade. The free version includes the core features and lets you preview your finished certificate so that you can see what the finished document looks like.

Is Zerta available on iPhone/iPad (iOS)?

No. Zerta is Android-only for now.

Is Zerta affiliated with the IET, NICEIC/NAPIT/SELECT, or BSI?

No. Zerta is not endorsed by, or affiliated with, any of these organisations.
